  1. Mix the pie filling ingredients in a bowl. If using frozen berries, let them sit for about half an hour first — they'll thaw and release some sugar, giving the filling a beautiful fuchsia glaze.
  2. Prepare your double pie crust of choice.
  3. Add the bottom crust to a pie pan, then fill with the pie filling.
  4. Dot pieces of butter across the top of the filling.
  5. Add the top crust, crimp the edges, and cut a few slits to vent steam.
  6. Preheat the oven, then bake at 400°F for about 40 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
